Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai flags 48 new vehicles for Transport department
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], June 17 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday flagged off 48 new government vehicles for the Transport Department, all bearing CG-02 registration numbers, marking a significant upgrade from the earlier reliance on rental vehicles.
'Today is a matter of pride for the Transport Department, as it has been provided with 48 new government vehicles, all with CG-02 registration numbers, in one go. Earlier, the department used rental vehicles and such, which didn't generate much excitement. But now, with these brand-new CG-02 numbered vehicles--48 in total--being handed over to the Transport Department, we extend our heartfelt congratulations,' Sai said.
The initiative aims to strengthen road safety campaigns and improve emergency medical transport across the state.
'Certainly, these vehicles will help raise awareness about road safety and help reduce road accidents. They will also be effectively used to transport people to hospitals on time and save lives. So, many congratulations once again,' he added.
Responding to a reporter's question about the notification for the 2026 census, Sai credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fulfilling a long-pending commitment, contrasting it with the Congress party's inaction during its tenure.
'This is a very good decision, Honourable Prime Minister. The Congress party always talked about a caste-based census, but despite being in power for a long time, it could never carry it out. That task has now been completed by our Honourable Prime Minister -- thank you,' he said.
On Saturday, CM Sai launched a scathing attack on the opposition Congress, accusing it of large-scale corruption during its tenure, in connection with the alleged Rs 2,000 crore liquor scam.
Speaking to the media, CM Sai asserted that central and state agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), are conducting a comprehensive investigation into the case, and assured that strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
'For the entire 5 years, they have done corruption. Now, central and state agencies are investigating it, and action will definitely be taken against the culprits. If they feel that injustice is being done to them, then they can definitely go to court. And what can they do? They can do this only because they are in the opposition,' he said.
This comes after the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Raipur Zonal Office provisionally attached three immovable properties worth Rs 6.15 crore under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with the Chhattisgarh Liquor Scam case. (ANI)

Congress Favours Hindi, But English Opens New Avenues: Ashok Gehlot
Jaipur: Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said Congress is in favour of Hindi but English opens new avenues in the world for everyone. Mr Gehlot's comments came a day after Home Minister Amit Shah's reported remarks on English. "Congress Party, Rahul Gandhi and all of us are also in favour of Hindi but English is an international language which opens new avenues in the world for everyone," Mr Gehlot said in a post on X. "Home Minister Shah and many people of BJP-RSS are against English although the people of the country know that the children of most of the Union ministers are studying abroad and they confuse the people here," the Congress leader said. During childhood, we also used to oppose English but it has become the need of the hour, so we also changed our 'approach', he said. Today, in the era of computers, internet, Artificial Intelligence, the young generation can be completely successful in life through English, Mr Gehlot said. The previous Congress government in Rajasthan established about 3700 Mahatma Gandhi English medium schools to promote education in English among the poor and middle class and rural areas. Due to this decision, about 6.50 lakh students started receiving education in English, he said. The Congress leader added, "The BJP government in the state tried to close these English medium schools but could not take such a step due to their popularity among the public."

Centre increased reservation for minorities: Hebbalkar
Udupi: "The central govt has increased the reservation for minorities in the housing scheme by 5%. The state govt has only approved this. In this matter, BJP members are unnecessarily finding fault," said Laxmi Hebbalkar, minister of women and child development. Speaking to reporters on Friday, the minister said there are no other issues left before the BJP for political debate. Initially, they criticised the guarantee schemes, claiming they would not succeed. Even after we won 136 seats, they said the govt wouldn't last six months, she said. Responding to the NSUI's objection to Hindutva orator Chakravarthy Sulibele's lecture in Kundapura, the minister said, "Chakravarthy Sulibele is a king of lies. He speaks of the Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, and Mahabharata, but everyone in Karnataka knows the extent of his lies. He is adept at turning black into white and vice versa." "The Congress party has provided all kinds of freedoms, including freedom of speech. In the history of the country, Congress is the party that upheld the Constitution," the minister remarked. "We do not need lessons from Chakravarthy Sulibele. It was learnt from police that Sulibele will be in Udupi for three days. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo He is certainly free to travel, but should refrain from making hate speeches, spreading lies, or sowing seeds of discord," said Hebbalkar. Reacting to BJP MLAs' criticisms, the minister said that on one hand, the BJP incites communalism, while claiming they do not. "On the other hand, they oppose the anti-communal forces. When you see BJP legislators with such a mindset, the people of Udupi can understand their mentality," the minister criticised the district's BJP legislators. 'District is prepared' Since there are signs that this year will see more rain than usual, I have instructed to take precautionary measures to control any rain-related incidents, she said. The minister stated that the government is prepared, regardless of the amount of rain. HC rejects plea by IAS officer, kin seeking quashing of CBI probe into graft charge
1 2 Cuttack : The Orissa high court on Friday dismissed a writ petition filed by senior IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi, his wife and daughter seeking to quash a CBI investigation into alleged corruption. The court ruled that the petition was "premature and not maintainable", as the investigation was still at a nascent stage. The case stems from the arrest of a PSU executive on Dec 8 last year for allegedly accepting a Rs 10 lakh bribe from a Bhubaneswar-based real estate firm. During interrogation, Sethi's name emerged, prompting a CBI search at his residence on Feb 18 this year. The petitioners alleged procedural violations and harassment, and sought the return of seized materials. Justice S K Panigrahi, however, rejected these claims, emphasising that the extraordinary writ jurisdiction under Article 226 of Constitution cannot be misused to derail legitimate investigations. "Higher the office, greater the responsibility," he observed, noting that Sethi, as a senior bureaucrat, is expected to uphold legal integrity, not evade scrutiny. The court stressed that no chargesheet had been filed yet, and interference at this point would undermine both investigative processes and public interest. It criticised the petitioners' approach as "forum-shopping" and warned against setting a precedent that powerful individuals can shield themselves from legal accountability. The court clarified that its refusal to intervene does not equate to a presumption of guilt, and the petitioners retain full rights to defend themselves during trial. However, it maintained that mere status or reputation cannot justify halting a probe into serious allegations of public corruption. On Feb 25, Justice Panigrahi had ordered, "As an interim measure, it is directed that no coercive action shall be taken against the petitioners till the next date." The interim restriction was extended from time to time and was in force till the petition was dismissed on Friday.
