Time of India14-06-2025

Pune: The monsoon has revived and is likely in its active phase now, IMD said on Saturday, forecasting more rain over the next few days, with chances of light to moderate rainfall in Pune city too till June 17.
Parts of Konkan received triple-digit rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8.30am on Saturday, prompting authorities to maintain red alert warnings.
Shivajinagar recorded 63.5mm of rainfall during the period, followed by Chinchwad (58mm) and Lavale (51.5mm). Other significant recordings included Magarpatta (43.5mm), Talegaon (42.5mm), Lonavla (39.5mm) and Rajgurunagar (39.5mm). In the Konkan region, Rajapur in Ratnagiri district recorded a 250mm of rainfall, while Kankavli in Sindhudurg district received 100mm.
The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfalls exceeding 200mm at isolated places over south peninsular India and Konkan and Goa till June 16. "The current weather pattern suggests that the monsoon has entered an active phase after a brief lull. We expect more heavy showers across Maharashtra, with intense rain warnings continuing till June 20, though the intensity is likely to reduce after June 16," an IMD official said.

The Met department said light to moderate rainfall at most places, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40kmph, was likely over Marathawada on Sunday.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan and Goa during June 18-20, Madhya Maharashtra during June 17-20. The intensity is expected to escalate with very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Konkan and Goa on June 16 and 17, Madhya Maharashtra during June 15-16.
The monsoon has so far covered half of Maharashtra, according to the latest IMD update. Conditions remain favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon over some parts of Gujarat, some more parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Odisha during the next two days, IMD said. The monsoon is also expected to progress over some parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar during the subsequent three days.

Monsoon likely to arrive in delhi within two days with rain forecast and air quality improving

New Delhi: The monsoon is likely to reach Delhi within the next two days, with India Meteorological Department forecasting light to moderate rain and improved weather conditions. The department has issued a yellow alert for the national capital and surrounding areas till Tuesday, warning of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds of up to 50 kmph. According to IMD, heavy rain is expected over large parts of north and northwest India over the next three days as the southwest monsoon advances further into the region, supported by favourable moisture conditions. The monsoon is likely to arrive in Delhi by June 24. IMD has predicted a normal monsoon for the season. "Southwest monsoon has further advanced over most parts of Himachal Pradesh, the entire Ladakh and Kashmir region, most parts of Jammu, and parts of Punjab," said RK Jenamani, senior weather scientist at IMD. "The Northern Limit of Monsoon currently passes through Jaipur, Agra, Rampur, Dehradun, Shimla, Pathankot and Jammu. Conditions remain favourable for its advancement over the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea, more areas of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh during the next two days. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo " Despite the forecast of rain from Sunday onward, no significant weather activity was recorded in the capital till late evening. However, the city's air quality continued to improve. Sunday marked the fifth consecutive day of satisfactory air quality, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) standing at 92 (on a 0–500 scale) at 4 pm. The improvement was aided by sporadic rain and surface winds, which helped disperse pollutants. Delhi govt, in a statement, said Punjabi Bagh recorded the lowest AQI among all major city locations, logging a reading of just 62. Officials attributed the cleaner air to consistent enforcement action and on-ground pollution control measures. "In the past 24 hours, 211 old or end-of-life vehicles — petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years — were impounded," the statement said. "Additionally, 11,157 pollution challans were issued across the city." Environment minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, "Our strict action on old vehicles and field-level monitoring is producing measurable results. From citywide improvements to local successes like Punjabi Bagh, Delhi is steadily moving towards a cleaner air reality." On the weather front, Delhi experienced a partly cloudy sky on Sunday, with a slight drop in daytime temperatures. The Safdarjung base station recorded a maximum temperature of 36.2°C, two degrees below the normal for this time of year, compared to 37.3°C a day earlier. The minimum temperature stood at 28.4°C, marginally higher than Saturday's 27.8°C but still within the seasonal average. Despite the slight dip in temperature, high humidity pushed the discomfort levels up. The heat index, or 'feels-like' temperature, touched 47.5°C. However, IMD expects the maximum temperature to ease further over the coming days, hovering between 33°C and 35°C on Monday, with a possibility of light showers by evening. MSID:: 122007851 413 |

Weatherman predicts light to moderate rain for next 3 days

Lucknow: A cloudy day with a few spells of light rain gave relief to people from high temperatures. However, high humidity levels led to some discomfort, but the absence of the sun throughout the day kept the maximum temperatures low. According to the weatherman, there is a warning of lightning and thunderstorms in the next three days when the city is likely to experience light to moderate rains due to low-pressure system in central Uttar Pradesh and a trough line crossing from Punjab to the Bay of Bengal. On Sunday, the maximum temperature was 33.9 degrees Celsius, which was 3.5 degrees below normal, and the minimum temperature was 26.6 degrees Celsius. Senior scientist Mohammad Danish said that on Monday it will be a partly cloudy sky, becoming generally cloudy with one or two spells of rain/thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 33 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively. Meanwhile, in the state, there is a forecast of rain/thundershowers very likely at many places over west Uttar Pradesh and a few places over east Uttar Pradesh. There is a warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning very likely at isolated places, and heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over the state. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Lucknow: A cloudy day with a few spells of light rain gave relief to people from high temperatures. Intermittent showers continue, Indore rain-deficit as of now

Indore: A persistent spell of cloudy skies and light rain kept Indore under a cool, damp cover, yet the city's monsoon rainfall remained significantly below expectations. Despite an overcast Sunday and scattered drizzle, Indore recorded only 4 mm of rainfall during the day and 2.8 mm in the last 24 hours. The current weather, however, brought some temporary comfort. With consistent cloud cover and drizzle, the maximum temperature on Sunday dipped to 27.2 degrees Celsius — 7 degrees below average — while the minimum stayed at 23 degrees Celsius, down by a degree. The air remained saturated with humidity at 97% in the morning and 86% by evening. Winds from the west-southwest reached up to 41 kmph at peak, lending a gentle coolness to the day and keeping sultry conditions at bay. According to the Meteorological Office Indore, the city's seasonal rainfall now stands at 32.9 mm, nearly 60 mm below normal for this point in the month. While the pre-monsoon in May saw record-breaking rainfall of over 203.2 mm, June's pace slowed considerably. In the first 21 days of the month, only about 31.75 mm of rain fell, raising concern among meteorologists and farmers alike. Forecasts indicate that heavier rainfall may be on the horizon. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Transform Your Home with Expert Home Improvement Services. Northern districts including Ujjain and Shajapur are on red alert for even more intense weather. The current atmospheric systems — including a low-pressure area over south-central Uttar Pradesh and an active east-west trough passing through northwest Madhya Pradesh — are expected to intensify rainfall activity in the coming days. As Indore waits for a proper monsoon burst to bridge the rainfall deficit, all eyes remain on the final week of June, with meteorologists hopeful that the city may still catch up.
